The Waste Framework Directive 2008/98/EC requires the competent authority in each Member State to establish one or more waste management plans in accordance with the relevant EU Directives. Waste management plans play a key role in achieving sustainable waste management by providing an overview of all waste generated and outlining treatment options.
According to Article 30 of the Waste Framework Directive, the implementation of these plans must be evaluated every six years, with a new plan adopted for each subsequent period.
As part of this action, a structured and systematic monitoring and evaluation scheme will be developed to assess the effectiveness of the WMPP measures. This tool will make it possible to continuously assess performance, track results, and ensure that the objectives of the WMPP are met.
Objective: To create a framework for continuous, periodic monitoring; to improve the implementation of the WMPP measures; to provide a set of key performance indicators (KPIs) for monitoring the WMPP and the interactions between the WMPP and the LIFE IP RETART project.
