C12 – Digitalisation of the Waste Management Services

Digitalisation plays a crucial role in the EU's Recovery and Resilience Facility (RRF). Analysing large amounts of data translates into useful information that supports circular solutions and advances the transition to a circular economy. To maximise efficiency and ensure the sustainability of project results, a platform is being developed to facilitate various interactions between governments, businesses and citizens. The platform will support the following aspects: soil management, waste management and waste recovery; transparent and efficient tracking of mass flows and processes; products made from secondary raw materials; integration of artificial intelligence to enhance waste management processes. Due to the recent floods in Slovenia, the action also includes digital support for interventions and rehabilitation of areas affected by natural disasters.

Objective: To optimise the implementation of the WMPP measures through: merging and optimising all soil management databases into a centralised database to streamline decision-making in administrative and other procedures related to soil management; establishing an exchange database for excavated soils to promote their reuse; creating a demolition register with data on quantities and properties of construction waste; developing a module for waste prevention with examples of best practice; digitising processes for preparing administrative procedures; enabling digital project reporting; providing digital tools to detect illegal landfills; creating a model of the structure of three industrial landfills; creating a database of standardised products made from secondary raw materials; using artificial intelligence to predict waste mass flows and optimise their management.
