C3 - Expert Assesment and Stakeholder’s Proposals for Legislation Improvements

The primary objective of this initiative is to review and update all relevant legislative and regulatory documents that currently impede or, at the very least, do not sufficiently facilitate the circular transition and implementation of the objectives set out in the WMPP. This action will analyse over 30 existing pieces of legislation. Legislative forums will be held to prepare summaries of the proposals and the conclusions therefrom. An expert assessment will be provided on the changes to the legislation that should be implemented. To create opportunities for the circular economy, regulations will be developed based on the above analysis. These will include measures to promote reuse and recovery, limit the generation and disposal of waste, enable exchange platforms, set minimum standards for recovery, green public procurement, tax incentives, and more.

Objectives: preparation of an expert assessment and stakeholder proposals for the improvement of legislation; carrying out a transparent expert assessment and stakeholder proposals to improve legislation; establishing an evidence-based approach to policy and regulatory development, incorporating real-world experience from demonstration projects and good practices, as well as stakeholder suggestions for better legislation; National public hearings on the Circular Economy Expert Assessment and stakeholder proposals for improvements to legislation.
