In Laško on challenges and solutions on the path to sustainability in Slovenian companies

On 21 November 2024, Laško hosted the 15th “Environment and Waste” expert conference, which this year focused on the challenges and solutions on the path to sustainability in Slovenian companies. The conference was also attended by Mag. Tanja Bolte (Ministry of the Environment, Climate and Energy), who presented the current legislative changes in the field of environmental legislation in Slovenia, and Boštjan Gomilšek from Result d.o.o., partner of the Life IP Restart project, who presented the digital material passport, a tool for achieving sustainability and ESG reporting.

As EU Member States are obliged to reduce their net greenhouse gas emissions by at least 55% by 2030 under the “Fit for 55” package, the conference also sought to respond to this challenge by presenting how sustainability is reflected in a company’s entire value chain and why it is important for all companies to do so. Actions to achieve decarbonisation were proposed (with examples of good practices), participants learned how to get the right data to measure and demonstrate environmental impacts, to identify key performance indicators and to use so-called zero-carbon technologies. The roundtable also discussed the impact of digitisation on sustainability.
